Despite the fact they were out of fish (understandable, considering the day we chose to visit) our waitress, Randi (if not brandi?!), was fantastic and went above and beyond in terms of patience with my (3) children. Dinner was served quickly and without delay or mistake nice atmosphere - for evening dining 5 stars More

We found this place while driving from Erie, PA to Niagara Falls, NY. The staff was super friendly! The view of all the boats and the open air seating creates an amazing atmosphere. The food was delicious! Portion sizes were large but not oversized, and prices were very reasonable. Service was spot on Mary took great care of us checking in often and refilling drinks before being asked! Food was prepared super fast and was hot and fresh! We will definitely be coming back on the next trip through!

First of all I called a week before for a reservation and was told they don’t accept reservations, when we arrived a very rude little girl asked if we were the reservation for later that evening. We advised of what we were told and she was very rude. We arrived on 6/5 at 528pm. We put in our name for a 45 minute for a table of 10 wait anyway as it was a birthday dinner. When we were called for the table a hour later, were were told some guy came up and said it was for 8? No idea who that was. We said 10 at arrival. They called us to the table and has us move our own table/chairs as it wasn’t actually set up?
We had special hats for our birthday party and ended up sharing the few extra we had with staff that were sailing related. We were told the owner loved the hats! All in all it was a okay experience as the front desk was rude as hell. The waitress was amazing and we gave her a hat. Food was eh okay.

The food was pretty good! My steak was a little overcooked but still tasty. My aides were delicious! My wife liked her sandwich but it was a little greasy. The service was top notch! Ask for Merissa as your server. The atmosphere is incredible. Right on the lake with a great view, nice breeze, and had some good music playing.

We had a pleasurable dining experience at Charlie's Boat Yard. Especially during the summer, we like to seek out locations with you outdoor seating. But Charlie's had the bonus of being on the water too!
We had a short wait for a table, but just had a drink at the outdoor bar, until one became available. We had a party of eight and they were able to accommodate us at a table that was sized perfectly.
Once seated, our server was there promptly. They had a nice selection on the menu. I personally enjoyed the meatball bomber, which was open face and toasted. Others in our party opted for seafood fare, such is the crab cakes and mussels, both of which were reported to be above average.
It's a great little spot and someplace we will definitely keep on our radar to visit again in the future.

We go to Charlie’s Boathouse mostly for the view. The food is average—not bad, just nothing special—but the waterfront scenery makes it a nice place to relax and unwind. Great spot for drinks and a sunset, not so much for a standout meal.

Friendly and efficient service. The food was good and the outside view was pretty. I'll be meeting friends there soon. The outside lower tables are a little difficult as the benches are odd, seating two people but divided so only one person can sit on each end. Difficult to explain but I assume they need them sturdy as to not have them tip on windy days near the lake.

First time at Charlie’s Boat Yard. Loved the opened windows and doors with a gentle breeze coming through from Lake Erie. A taste of Buffalo food on the menu and some other tasty dishes. Only one suggestion scrap the iced tea.

Stopped for drinks and the amazing view of Lake Erie from the back deck bar. Service was great and the drink prices were reasonable. We plan to return when we have more time to check out the area. It seems very walkable with many paved areas along the waterfront. More

Honestly, I wasn't thrilled about this place and was definitely disappointed. The place, although busy, has a somewhat sterile feeling to it. We sat inside, and perhaps the outside seating would have been nicer. I just had a salad and it was good, but on the small side if you would compare it to what you'd get at another restaurant, especially for the price. Next time I'm in the area, I'd go elsewhere.

If you’re looking for a fantastic waterfront dining experience in Buffalo, Charlie’s Boat Yard is a must-visit. Situated right on Lake Erie, this casual restaurant offers incredible views and a laid-back atmosphere that perfectly complements its location.
From the moment I arrived, I could tell that Charlie’s Boat Yard was all about the waterfront vibe. The outdoor patio was definitely the highlight for me, offering spectacular views of the marina and Lake Erie. If you love watching the sunset, this spot is ideal—you can relax with a drink and enjoy the view while boats come and go from the docks. The interior continues the nautical theme, but if the weather’s good, I’d recommend sitting outside to take full advantage of the lakefront setting.
When it comes to the food, Charlie’s has a great mix of American classics and seafood. I started with their fish tacos, which were fresh and flavorful. They offer both broiled and fried seafood options, so you can choose your style. For those who aren’t seafood fans, there are plenty of other options too—like burgers and salads. The lobster roll is another favorite, especially if you’re in the mood for something a little lighter but still filling.
They also have a full bar, and their selection of local beers pairs perfectly with the seafood. If you’re visiting on a warm day, a cocktail on the patio really completes the experience.
One thing I found really unique about Charlie’s is that it’s boater-friendly. If you’re out on the lake, you can actually dock your boat and stop in for a meal. It’s such a convenient option for boaters, and it adds to the whole lakefront charm of the place.
If you enjoy live music, Charlie’s hosts performances during the summer months. When I visited on a weekend, there was a live band playing, which added to the lively, fun atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend an evening soaking up the sun, listening to music, and enjoying great food and drinks.
I also noticed that the restaurant is very family-friendly. They offer a kids’ menu, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed enough that it’s a great option for families who want to spend some time by the water without feeling rushed.
One thing to note is that Charlie’s operates seasonally, mainly during the warmer months. If you’re planning a visit, I’d recommend going between spring and early fall to really get the best experience. Buffalo summers are short, so it’s a prime spot to take advantage of the limited warm weather!
Overall, Charlie’s Boat Yard offers everything you’d want from a waterfront restaurant—good food, stunning views, and a lively atmosphere. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite after a day on the lake or looking for a relaxing dinner spot with live music, Charlie’s delivers. It’s an ideal spot to soak in Buffalo’s waterfront, especially during the summer months.
If you’re in the Buffalo area and love seafood or simply want to enjoy a casual meal by the water, I’d highly recommend checking out Charlie’s Boat Yard!

Great place to sit by the water and enjoy the outdoor bar. Usually places like this don't need to have great food because of the location. Well, get ready to order the tacos and have your mind blown away. Also, they have High Noons and margaritas so its a win win for everyone =D More
